CAREGIVER AND PATIENT ENCOURAGEMENT
Janet's keynotes and workshops share how to get through life's challenges by affirming one's self.

Affirm Yourself for Life's Challenges
Janet shares her personal story of caring for her husband who had a degenerative neurological disease. Throughout, she presents a number of affirming statements to uplift both the caregiver and/or the care recipient. In the process, she reveals insights into how to make the most of this difficult life journey, and even to find meaning through it.

The messages addressed are customized to the group to which she is presenting. These groups include:

  • Parkinson's and Other Movement Disorders
  • Caregiver-only
  • Dementia Caregiver
  • Multiple Sclerosis and ALS
  • Cancer
  • Stroke
  • Other Diseases or Conditions

The Importance of Positive Emotions
Living with a chronic condition or caring for someone with a chronic or progressive disorder can drain us of the emotional health we need day-to-day. Whether you are a pessimist or optimist, research in positive psychology demonstrates that we can adopt a healthier thinking style that fosters strength, creativity and resilience. Janet uses science, personal stories of caring for her husband during his neurological illness, and hands-on workshop activities to explore positive ways to get through this challenging life experience by increasing positivity and decreasing negativity.
